In the Staffordshire potteries of 1890 The Foley china works of E Brain & co, and from 1905 Foley Art China The Peacock Pottery, specialised in bone china tea and breakfast wares of high quality and good design. This black and yellow art nouveau pattern of the ‘Glasgow Rose’ was a design by George Logan of the Rennie Mackintosh Glasgow school of designers. Foley used several of his designs to transfer print onto their fine white bone china tableware. George Logan ( 1866-1939 ) a well known furniture designer is perhaps better known for his Glasgow Style ceramic designs, many of which featured the Glasgow rose and stylised tulips, produced by various English potteries. Each piece is marked on the base with the factory back stamp for E Brain & co England Registered number 184. Demi Tasse cup – 5.5 cm x 6 cm Saucer – 12 cm diameter Excellent condition.
