In the Staffordshire potteries of 1890 The Foley china works of E Brain & co, and from 1905 Foley Art China The Peacock Pottery, specialised in bone china tea and breakfast wares of high quality and good design. This black and yellow art nouveau design of the ‘Glasgow Rose’, by George Logan of the Rennie Mackintosh Glasgow school of designers, was transfer printed onto white bone china tableware. George Logan ( 1866-1939 ) a well known furniture designer is perhaps better known for his Glasgow Style ceramic designs, many of which featured the Glasgow rose and stylised tulips, produced by various English potteries. This fabulous set has the back stamp of EBrain&co England Registered number 184. Set of late 19th century tea plates for sandwiches and cake. 1 Large handled plate 23.5 cm 6 smaller plates 18 cm. Excellent condition, just a little rub to rim.
